Welp! Here we go. The start of something big hopefully. I already know that Virtual Reality will be the next best thing for gaming but I am really hoping that it crosses into the realm of education. I know that there are surgeons out there using it and there are also some cool interactive field trips that you can take underwater and elsewhere in the world. But that's not what i'm looking for. I'm looking for an experience that teaches curriculum. Kids and adult learners so involved and engrossed with the immersion that they have no idea they are learning vital skills in their life. People that want to "jack in" for the fun of it and not just because they need to study or have to do homework. I think that this can truly happen and I want to be on the forefront of it. So, I'm going to blog. I'm going to make connections with people and I want to push this as far as it can go. What is all this VR stuff? I'm completely new.Watch the video below. What do you have?Nothing! HA! Great... I have an Oculus Rift on Pre-Order as well as an HTC Vive. I'll have to upgrade my graphics card as well to a GTX 980 unfortunately. I'll hold out for a Pascal card in the summer if my pre-orders don't come in until then. I plan on selling the Oculus Rift and will eventually get a Consumer Version 2 or 3 later down the line. The full room scale VR of the Vive is really a selling point for me. I'll set the entire rig up in my basement and play games. Playing is learning in my opinion when done in the right fashion. Most of the launch titles are obviously not education but there will be some experiences soon that will start bridging the gap between fun and learning.
